Scandinavian Journal for Leadership and Theology (SJLT) is founded on the conviction that the disciplines of leadership and theology have much to gain from their mutual interaction. The journal provides a platform for scholars in both fields and encourages interdisciplinary dialogue and debate.
SJLT aims to advance academic and practical understanding of how leadership is exercised, interpreted, and shaped within religious contexts. Leadership is understood broadly, encompassing the ongoing development of church life and ministry. Our purpose is to foster research on leadership in religious settings, the processes of congregational development, and the life of the church as a social, spiritual, and organizational body.
We welcome submissions that engage a wide range of theological traditions and draw on diverse theoretical perspectives from organizational studies, leadership theory, and the theological disciplines. Methodological plurality is encouraged: contributors may employ qualitative, quantitative, historical, biblical, or interdisciplinary approaches. Work that bridges theory and practice, or that offers insights relevant to contemporary ecclesial challenges, is especially valued.
All articles undergo an editorial assessment followed by double-blind peer review.
SJLT is published in English, but articles in the Scandinavian languages (Swedish, Danish and Norwegian) are also welcome. We present research with a public face, meaning that articles must be accessible not only to experts in the field but also to interdisciplinary scholars, students, and interested readers.
SJLT is a digital and open-access journal published by ALT School of Theology (ALT), Norwegian School of Leadership and Theology (HLT) and Ansgar University College (AHS). SJLT’s theological basis is the Apostles’ Creed and the Lausanne covenant.
